Kokkino Horio
Kokkino Horio in west Crete is a traditional village only 45 minutes drive away from Chania and only 8 minute drive away from Almyrida and belongs to Apokoronas area. A village with narrow streets and traditional stone homes, built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach with a small fishing harbor. The beach is very shallow and safe and has a water sports centre. Across the beach is a good selection of taverns and shops.
A huge variety of archaeological sites and other traditional villages are just a few minutes away.
Just around the corner of the village, you can find many traditional or modern homes, a couple of small shops, bakery and cafe's owned by individuals.
There is also a Glass factory in the village. Above Kokkino Horio you can see the strangely shaped hill Drapanokefala (named during the Venetian occupation). The coastline northwest of the village is an extremely interesting place for a stroll due to the ground formation and the caves.
